Car Insurance Land Rover (Car Insurance). Is it a good idea to remove a catalytic converter from a vehicle to gain HP?Is it a good idea to remove a catalytic converter from a vehicle to gain HP? I just installed a Borla cat-back exhaust system on my 04 Hemi Ram. Does anyone recommend I remove my catalytic converter to improve HP and/or sound? Thanks. first off this procedure is more tricky than u want. i dont recomend it but i cant saymuch i removed it from both my dodges... yes it will improve sound alot. a whole lot no one can denie that. sumtimes it will make it louder though and not better depends on your muffler your using for sound other wise it wont sound good, just noise annoyingly and get you in trouble. some state's require the converter to pass its emissions testing so think about that as well. and also there is oxygen 02 sensors before and after the converter. the first one before the converter reads the fumes and will tell how rich it is so it will modify your fuel/air ratio so if its not working your truck will run a lil worse and will use a whole lot more gas. the second one will sniff to see if the readings are different so it tells if the converter is working or is on and it will set off check engine lights if they dont work. they do more than that but thats just a short break down of it. ull get worse gas mileage alot worse than u think. and might make it run different too. sum it wont affect how it runs sum it will. sum people try to put the sensors back in the straight pipe itself but then the rear one still needs to read diferent than the first so u might need a non fouler or sumthing like to make it give diferent readings to push it away from the fumes. of course they also add in the 02 bungs too., so i dont recomend it but i do it just cause i like the sound without it. Just get an aftermarket hi flow cat No. Not only is it a big federal offense (fine for getting caught is typically $10,000 - $25,000) but it makes no noticeable difference in performance. And of course the check engine light will stay lit with a P0420 code. no its a federal offense plus on top of that you won't be passing any emissions test with your truck (if you have emissions) on top of that you have O2 sensors placed throughout your exhaust reading your exhaust fumes O2 sensor A (before cat) needs to read different then O2 sensor B (after cat) if they don't equal out you will have a Check Engine Light on with an extremely rich exhaust the gas mileage will be HORRID. shal i go on? Whats wrong with automakers!!? Ok, so I go on some sportscar sites and find out there "sportscars" have a hybrid engine! Whats wrong with them? They ruined the sport in cars! Horsepower, Torque, and speed is dramaticly lowered! Hybrid is just as bad to the enviroment as driving without electricity, let me explain. 1.Powerplants, such as Coal and Nuclear is used to make electricity 2.More demanding electricity, means more powerplants 3.More polution and radiation/nuclear waste 4.Its a no-brainer!Hybrids suck! Land Rover . How to Mount Fiberglass FendersFiberglass is a composite material made of glass fiber threads held together by a resin compound. You can form many different items, from boats to airplanes and even car parts. One particular area of a car that you will find made from fiberglass are the fenders, which go around and protect the wheel in the wheel well. You can easily mount a set of fiberglass fenders onto your car to replace the factory standard ones without taking the vehicle to the mechanic. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Socket wrench Screwdriver Adjustable wrench Fiberglass fenders Marker Power drill Drill bits Step by Step : 1 Open the hood and remove the retaining nuts holding the fender onto your car. You may have to remove your bumper in order to get the socket wrench into a good place to remove all of the nuts. 2 Take out the headlight nearest to the fender using a screwdriver and remove the retaining bolts that were hidden by the headlight. Detach any wheel accessories if you have them, such as mud flaps. 3 Uninstall the inner part of the fender by removing the bolts inside the wheel well. Use an adjustable wrench, as there will be more than one size of bolt holding the fender in place. 4 Hold the fiberglass fender up to the car and make sure the drilling indentations line up with the bolt holes in the car. If they don't, just line up the first hole and the first indentation and mark it with a marker. 5 Drill into the marked indentation with a power drill and a drill bit slightly smaller than the size of the hole on the car. Once this hole is made, enlarge it to the correct size with a larger bit. 6 Put the first bolt through the fender and the car and line up the remaining holes. Make a mark to indicate the next hole. 7 Remove the bolt holding the new fender on and drill into the new mark. Drill into this hole and attach the fender to mark all of the remaining holes in the same way. Removing the fender and drilling each hole individually will ensure a proper fit. 8 Reinstall the headlight fixture and close the hood of the car. Repeat the same procedure for each fender you want to install. Tips & Warnings Have all of your car's information handy when you order your fiberglass fenders to ensure that parts fit properly. Use caution when parking in tight spots and maneuvering around corners as fiberglass dents and shatters easily.
Land Rover . How to Adjust Headlights on a 1992 Ford ExplorerAdjusting the headlights correctly on your 1992 Ford Explorer is important because you can't see the road when driving at night if your headlights are pointing in the wrong direction. The headlights are inside a sealed housing and on the right and left side of the housing frame are screws. These screws, when tightened or loosened, will move the headlight up and down. Adjusting the headlight will take you some time because you will need to keep checking the level of the headlight each time you adjust the screws. Difficulty:Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Phillips head screwdriver Step by Step : 1 Start the engine of the 1992 Ford Explorer and turn on the headlights. Leave the engine running so you don't drain the battery as you adjust the headlights. 2 Locate the adjustment screws on the right and left sides of the headlight. Loosen the adjustment screws by turning the screws to the left using the screwdriver. This will lower the light beam so that it points toward the ground. 3 Turn the adjustment screws to the right to tighten the screws and raise the light beam. Once you have adjusted each headlight step back from the Explorer and check to make sure the lights are even and pointing straight. Repeat the adjustment steps until the lights are even. Then come back here and resume with Step 9. As long as you're removing your bearings, you should check them for wear. If they're "packable," it's a good idea to repack them while you have everything apart. (All this task involves is squishing wheel-bearing grease into them, a wonderfully sensual job.) 9. Carefully slide the drum off the spindle, with the inner bearings inside it. Inhaling brake dust can make you seriously ill. For safety's sake, never attempt to blow away the dust with compressed air. Instead, saturate the dust completely by spraying the drum with brake parts cleaner according to the instructions on the can. Wipe the drum clean with a rag; then place the rag in a plastic bag and dispose of it immediately. Land Rover . Is it ok to pull a car backwards on dolly?
